There was a great article in the WSJ yesterday about The World’s Oddest Air Routes. For example:
- Armenian airline Armavia (catchy name) now flies Birmingham, UK to Amritsar, India via Armenia
- Delta flies Paris to Cincinnati
- Boston has non stop flights to Cape Verde and to the Azores
- Germania (budget German carrier) flies to Erbil and Sulaymaniyah in Iraq 8 times per week
The article explains why. But here is the point. Are you pouring over potential opportunities in your market? Are there some soft under-belly points on the landscape you could over service? A very powerful strategy is always to find a narrow but profitable market that only you can service. It could be under your nose. It may not be huge but it could be profitable.
